JAKARTA – Commission XI of House of Representatives (DPR) has asked the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) to postpone the implementation of the new tax administration system, Coretax, after several issues were identified since its launch on January 1, 2025.

Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chair of Commission XI, stated that the DPR also urged DJP to revert to the previous systems, such as DJP Online and e-Faktur Desktop, as a mitigation step.

"The Ministry of Finance's Directorate General of Taxes guarantees that any IT system in use will not affect the tax revenue outlined in the 2025 State Budget (APBN)," he said in a press conference following a hearing with DJP at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Monday (10/1).

In the meeting, Commission XI asked DJP to develop a low-risk implementation roadmap for Coretax, simplify taxpayer services, refrain from penalising taxpayers due to Coretax disruptions throughout 2025, and enhance Coretax's cybersecurity measures.

Suryo Utomo, Director General of Taxes, stated that DJP will promptly prepare the Coretax implementation roadmap and ensure the old systems run concurrently with Coretax.

Previously, Coretax came under scrutiny due to frequent disruptions. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan (Chairman of the National Economic Council) and Airlangga Hartarto (Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs) even visited the DJP office to assess the system’s readiness.

Following the visit, Luhut expressed optimism that Coretax would operate better over time, while Airlangga stressed the system's importance in supporting state revenue. (DK/ZH)
