Bank Mandiri to finance downstream projects through Danantara

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has stated that PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) will be part of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara).
“If I’m not mistaken, Bank Mandiri is one of the entities involved in Danantara, which will finance downstream projects,” he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (12/2).
Bahlil added that downstreaming plays a crucial role in strengthening the national economy. Therefore, he also encouraged investors not to hesitate in investing in this sector.
Bahlil revealed that the total investment required for downstream projects is USD 618 billion, equivalent to IDR 10.1 quadrillion (based on the exchange rate of IDR 16,370/USD). This figure covers downstreaming for 28 commodities.
“To investors, I suggest starting the construction of factories immediately. But before that, meet with me first, then with the bank director,” Bahlil said. (DK/KR/ZH)
