Humpuss Maritim spends USD 7 million on oil tanker

JAKARTA – PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk (HUMI), through its subsidiary PT Hutama Trans Kencana (Matrans), has expanded its fleet by purchasing an oil tanker named Marlin 88.
Matrans acquired Marlin 88 at a price of USD 7 million—equivalent to IDR 113.87 billion at an exchange rate of IDR 16,270 per USD—from PT Patria Nusasegara, a non-affiliated company, on February 17, 2025.
"The funding source for the vessel purchase comes from the bank and internal cash," added Tirta Hidayat, President Director of HUMI, in an official statement released today (18/2).
Marlin 88 has a tank capacity of 50,322 m³, with a deadweight tonnage of 34,995. This oil tanker is designed to transport clean oil products such as Pertalite, Dexlite, Pertamax, Kerosene, as well as Solar and Biosolar.
However, its cargo heating technology enables Marlin 88 to also be used for crude oil transportation. "With this capability, MT Marlin 88 can be utilised flexibly for various transportation needs and has the potential to be repurposed as Floating Storage Onboard (FSO) in the future," the management stated.
With the addition of this oil tanker, HUMI now operates a total of 10 oil tankers. As previously reported by IDNFinancials, HUMI aims to acquire 10 vessels, including 4 oil & chemical tankers, throughout 2025, with a capital expenditure budget of USD 39.7 million. (ZH)
