Refusing to settle, BUKA files PKPU against Harmas Jalesveva

JAKARTA – PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA) has filed for a Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU) against PT Harmas Jalesveva at the Jakarta Commercial Court.
This lawsuit is a continued effort to resolve the financial obligations that Harmas has yet to fulfil towards BUKA. BUKA management states that Harmas failed to complete the office space provision contract for BUKA, as per the agreement made in 2017.
“BUKA has fulfilled its obligations by paying a booking deposit of IDR 6.46 billion from January to May 2018,” stated BUKA’s management in its official release.
In addition, BUKA issued a formal demand to Harmas in early 2021, requesting a refund of the deposit paid. However, according to BUKA's management, this request was not addressed by Harmas.
“The facts we presented are clear. BUKA has paid as agreed, but Harmas has failed to fulfil its responsibilities and has not returned the deposit,” said Kurnia Ramadhana, a member of BUKA's Executive Committee.
It is worth noting that the dispute between BUKA and Harmas has been ongoing since 2022. In October 2024, the Central Jakarta District Court ordered BUKA to pay material damages to Harmas amounting to IDR 107 billion.
However, BUKA management continues to pursue various legal avenues, culminating in this PKPU lawsuit. “We hope that the Jakarta Commercial Court will approve this request so that the debt settlement process can proceed through the correct legal mechanism,” Kurnia added. (KR/ZH)
