Danantara eyes labour-intensive investments to boost job creation

JAKARTA – Rosan Roelani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI), has confirmed that labour-intensive sectors will be the primary focus of investments managed by Danantara.
Rosan made this statement during the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2025 event held in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/2).
In a discussion session with Erick Thohir, Rosan emphasised that the main goal of investment is to have a sustainable impact, particularly by generating more job opportunities. "The objective is job creation," Rosan stated.
He noted that 28-29% of Indonesia’s economic growth is currently supported by investment growth. As Minister of Investment, he also mentioned that Danantara’s presence is expected to help achieve the target of 8% economic growth by 2029.
To achieve this, Rosan explained that the Indonesian government is not only attracting foreign investment but also collaborating to offer co-investment opportunities through Danantara. "In other words, we put skin in the game; we invest together," he added. (KR/ZH)
