JAKARTA – PT Krakatau Steel Tbk (KRAS), through its subsidiary PT Krakatau Baja Industri (KBI), successfully exported 5,000 tonnes of Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) steel to the United States.

Arief Purnomo, President Director of KBI, stated that the company has produced high-quality steel, allowing it to penetrate the export market. This steel product, according to Arief, is further processed by PT Tata Metal Lestari into downstream products such as Aluminium Zinc-Coated Steel (BJLAS), Zinc-Coated Steel (BJLS), and coloured BJLAS & BJLS.

He also added that KBI’s Cold Rolling Mill facilities ensure consistent production quality with specific steel specifications.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Akbar Djohan, President Director of KRAS, viewed this export as proof of the Krakatau Steel Group's competitiveness in the global market. He emphasised that the solid performance of the national steel industry could help strengthen Indonesia's economy, with a potential growth of up to 8%.

It is worth noting that KBI has contributed significantly to KRAS's improved performance. KBI's Cold Rolled Coil and Plate steel products are currently used as raw materials for the automotive industry, galvalume, galvanised steel, and other downstream light steel products. (DH/KR/ZH)
