JAKARTA - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) strengthened 1.32% to 6,617.85 in today's trading, driving a 5.52% gain since the beginning of this week.

A number of stocks that pushed the JCI higher today were PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI)PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII), and PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN).

BBRI shares recorded a price increase of 2.86% in today's trading, and contributed 16.90 points to the index. Meanwhile, DCII and BREN shares recorded price increases of 9.98% and 3.69% respectively, and contributed 16.83 and 8.67 index points.

Amid the strengthening of the JCI, foreign investors still recorded a net sell of IDR 36.91 billion. Today's foreign net sell portion is much lower than Friday (28/2) last week, which reached IDR 2.91 trillion.

Stockbit Sekuritas analyst Edi Chandren believes that the decline in the JCI in recent days does not indicate a crisis.

‘History shows that the current decline in the JCI is nearing its end and has the potential to be followed by a significant rebound,’ said Edi, in one of his reports.

Throughout today's trading, the volume of shares traded reached 15.43 billion shares. Today's trading value reached Rp12.35 trillion, involving 1.06 million transactions. (KR/LM)
