JAKARTA - PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk (TOBA) has reached the financial closing date for the floating solar power plant project in Tembesi, Batam.

The completion of this financing is an important achievement in TOBA's efforts to accelerate its transformation into a sustainable energy company by 2030.

In addition to completing the financing of the Floating Solar Power Plant in Batam, TOBA has also reached the commercial operation date (COD) for the Minihydro Power Plant (PLTM) in Lampung. Both projects are part of TOBA's strategy in developing renewable energy sources that are more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Dicky Yordan, President Director of TOBA, stated that this achievement confirms the company's commitment in supporting the energy transition in Indonesia.

‘TOBA also continues to strengthen its position as a major player in the renewable energy sector, in line with the company's long-term vision,’ Yordan said in an official statement on Thursday (6/3).

The Floating Solar Power Plant project in Tembesi is a strategic step in the efficient utilisation of solar energy.

‘With an installed capacity of 46 MWp, this power plant was developed in collaboration with PLN Nusantara Power and is expected to contribute to increasing the national renewable energy mix,’ he said.

After reaching the financial closing date, TOBA will immediately begin the construction phase of the floating PLTS project with a target of full commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This shows TOBA's seriousness in developing innovative and sustainable renewable energy technology.

On the other hand, TOBA has also completed the construction of the Sumber Jaya MHP in Lampung, which has been officially operating since 22 January 2025. This hydropower plant has a capacity of 6 MW and plays a role in supplying clean energy in the Southern Sumatra region.

Dicky emphasised that hydropower is an important element in TOBA's renewable energy strategy because it is able to provide a stable and sustainable electricity supply.

The success of these projects, he continued, cannot be separated from the support of implementing partners and financial institutions, including PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI). Solid funding from these financial institutions further strengthens TOBA's readiness to accelerate the development of green energy in Indonesia.

‘This step is part of TOBA's commitment to the TBS2030 programme in building a sustainable and low-carbon business,’ he said. (DK/LM)
