SMIL builds a new workshop to accommodate thousands of forklifts

JAKARTA – Forklift rental company PT Sarana Mitra Luas Tbk (SMIL) kicked off 2025 by inaugurating its latest workshop in Cikarang, West Java, as part of a strategic expansion.
This move responds to increasing demand from key clients, including Sinarmas Group and the Chinese company HELI. The workshop is designed to accommodate up to thousands of forklift units, making it SMIL's largest facility to date.
Hadi Suhermin, President Director of SMIL, stated that the inauguration of this workshop strengthens the company’s position as a leader in the material handling industry.
"We are optimistic about meeting the surge in demand from clients and maximising the potential of our partnership with HELI," he said in an official statement on Friday (7/3).
Hadi believes this expansion will positively impact SMIL's financial performance in 2025 and increase investor confidence in the company's business prospects.
"With projected growth in service volume and operational efficiency, SMIL is optimistic about achieving higher growth targets," Hadi added.
It’s worth noting that diesel forklift rentals remain the main revenue contributor for SMIL, accounting for 58% of total revenue, while the remainder comes from electric forklifts.
However, over the next five years, SMIL targets 80% of its revenue to come from electric forklift rentals. (DK/KR/ZH)
