JAKARTA - PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) revealed that artificial intelligence (AI) technology has played a major role in the company’s network operations. With AI, ISAT has been able to build a more efficient network and save costs of up to IDR 3-4 trillion.

Vikram Sinha, President Director & CEO of ISAT, explained that since August 2024, the company has implemented AI in a new platform and integrated it throughout the organisation, including in network operations.

This use of AI has improved capital expenditure (capex) efficiency. Out of a capex budget of IDR 13 trillion, Indosat only spent around IDR 9-10 trillion.

“This shows how AI helps the company achieve better results at a lower cost,” said Vikram, in an official statement on Tuesday (11/3).

In 2024, ISAT allocated IDR 9.93 trillion to enhance its mobile network and AI-based digital technology. Around 82.7% of this budget was used for the mobile network, while the rest was allocated to Multimedia, Data Communication, and Internet (MIDI), as well as IT.

ISAT also operates a Digital Intelligence Operations Centre (DIOC), which combines the functions of the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and the Service Operations Centre (SOC).

“By using AI, the DIOC enables more proactive network management, improving operational efficiency and speeding up customer issue resolution,” he said.

For your information, ISAT has developed AI-based hyper-personalisation to understand customer habits and predict their needs. The company also operates an AI Factory, managed by its subsidiary, Lintasarta.

On Tuesday’s trading (11/3), ISAT’s share price fell by 1.62% to IDR 1,515 per share. In the past month, ISAT’s share price has dropped by 6.77%, and over the last six months, it has fallen by 44.02%. (DK/KR/ZH)
