JAKARTA - Baidu, a Chinese technology giant, launched two of its latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) models on Sunday (16/3) today.

Baidu claims one of its latest models, the ERNIE X1, has specific capabilities for reasoning. This model is claimed to be equivalent and even superior to DeepSeek R1, and is offered at a lower price.

‘ERNIE X1 provides performance equivalent to DeepSeek R1 at half the price,’ Baidu wrote in an official statement.

Baidu also claims ERNIE X1 is able to understand, plan, reflect, evolve, and can operate certain devices autonomously.

The second model launched by Baidu, ERNIE 4.5, is equipped with multimodal capabilities. According to Baidu, this model has improved language, logic, and memory capabilities, and is able to understand viral jokes.

Please note, Baidu is a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) with stock code 9888.HK. In trading on Friday (14/3) yesterday, Baidu's share price increased by 2.46%. Meanwhile, since the beginning of this year, its share price has increased by 13.43%. (KR/LM)
