JAKARTA – Several senior executives of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) purchased 2.84 million shares of the company, with a total transaction value of IDR 25.37 billion on 18 March 2025.

Six key officials of BCA were involved in this transaction, comprising one commissioner and five directors. Here are the details of their purchases:

  • Tonny Kusnadi (Commissioner) bought 232,377 shares worth IDR 2.08 billion, increasing his holding to 7.5 million shares.
  • Jahja Setiaatmadja (President Director) purchased 1.03 million shares for IDR 9.25 billion, raising his collection to 35.2 million shares.
  • Haryanto Tiara Budiman (Director) acquired 281,279 shares worth IDR 2.52 billion, now holding 1.05 million shares.
  • John Kosasih (Director) bought 318,416 shares for IDR 2.85 billion, increasing his holding to 1.09 million shares.
  • Santoso (Director) purchased 458,126 shares worth IDR 4.06 billion, now owning 3.06 million shares.
  • Vera Eva Lim (Director) acquired 519,277 shares for a total of IDR 4.58 billion, increasing her shareholding to 2.73 million shares.

The average price of the share purchases was around IDR 8,975 per share.

This buying action took place ahead of the cash dividend distribution of IDR 250 per share, which will be paid on April 11, 2025.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (18/3), the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) dropped drastically by 3.84%, closing at 6,223.39. This decline wiped out IDR 100 trillion in market capitalisation in a single day, marking the lowest position since October 2021, when the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic shook Indonesia's economy.

During trading, the IHSG plunged by as much as 5.02% at 11:19 WIB, triggering a 30-minute trading halt. However, after trading resumed, the index continued to slide by up to 7.1%, marking the steepest intraday decline sejak since September 2011.

The decline was driven by the sharp drop in several big-cap stocks, which acted as Top Laggards of the IHSG, including PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII): -38.21 index points, PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA): -27.98 points, PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN): -26.01 points, and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI): -26.01 points.
