JAKARTA – On Friday, March 21, foreign investor transactions on the Indonesia Stock Exchange ended in a net sale. If foreign transactions ended with a net buy of 187.39 million shares on the previous trading day, today's total dropped to a net sell of 78.92 million shares.

Compared to the previous trading day (March 20), when both purchasing and selling volumes were below 4 billion shares, the amount of foreign transactions today soared. 9.36 billion shares of stock were purchased by foreign investors today, representing the total volume of foreign buys. Today, foreign investors had a net sell of 78.92 million shares, with a sales volume (foreign sell) of 9.44 billion shares.

The large number of international transactions today are mainly driven by foreign trades of PT GOTO Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) shares. Approximately 4.22 billion shares were sold, while over 4.71 billion GOTOs were purchased. This digital service provider's stock also saw a net buy of 486.60 million shares.

PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) came in second with a net buy of 176.44 million shares. This coal mining business sold 125.83 million shares and purchased 302.28 million shares from foreign investors.

A net buy of 40.53 million shares of PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA) came next. This renewable energy provider had 41.61 million shares purchased overseas, while only 1.07 million shares were sold.

With net buy volumes of almost 34 million shares each, natural gas company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGAS) and supermarket company PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT) concluded the top buy list. AMRT's foreign purchase volume was 186.96 million, while 152.58 million shares were sold. In the meantime, PGAS' foreign investors  sold 136.70 million shares and bought about 171 million shares.

However, with a net sell of 188.95 million shares, PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), BUMI's mineral mining entity, topped the top sell list. Although BRMS's foreign investors bought 506.98 million, its sales volume was higher at 695.94 million shares.

Following this were shares of three banking issuers: BMRI (net sell of 115.33 million), BBNI (133.33 million), and BBCA (165.52 million). Foreigners purchased up to 161 million shares of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), but more than 326.53 million shares were sold. The shares of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) were then sold for 202.32 million and bought for about 69 million. Thereafter, foreign investors purchased around 186.17 million shares of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), but they also sold approximately 301.39 million shares.

After foreigners purchased 44.18 million shares and released nearly 87 million shares, gold investment issuer PT J Resources Asia Pasifik Tbk (PSAB) finished the top sell list with a net sell of 42.75 million shares. (KD)
