JAKARTA – A number of large-cap banking stocks led the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) to a 1.21% gain in Tuesday’s (25/3) trading session.

JCI closed Tuesday at 6,235.62, with the lowest level recorded at 6,178.49 and the highest at 6,265.29.

Shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) led JCI’s rise, gaining 5.26% and adding 29.16 index points.

PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) followed in second place, with a price increase of 6.29% and contributing 24.99 index points. Next was PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI), which saw a price rise of 4.84%, adding 6.58 index points.

Shares of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) and PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BRIS) ranked 3rd and 4th. BBCA’s share price rose by 1.26%, contributing 6.50 index points, while BRIS jumped by 12.32%, adding 2.67 index points.

As several large-cap banks strengthened, foreign investors began to dominate with buying activity. By the end of the session, foreign investor transactions recorded a net buy of IDR 214.08 billion. (KR/ZH)
