JAKARTA - The United States (US) applies a reciprocal tariff policy with a lower limit of 10% on various imported products from its trading partner countries. Indonesia is one of the countries in Asia that is a US trading partner.

US President Donald J. Trump announced the imposition of reciprocal tariffs on imported products, which took effect on Wednesday (2/4) US time. ‘China is at the top of the reciprocal tariff list with a tariff of 34% and the European Union 20%,’ he said on the Foxnews Youtube Channel quoted on Thursday (3/4) Indonesian time.

Donald J. Trump showed a list of a number of countries that are his trading partners, including Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, India, South Korea, Thailand, Switzerland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, the UK, Brazil, South Africa, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

According to Trump, his trading partners impose high trade tariffs on US products. Therefore, the US will apply reciprocal tariffs on imported products from its trading partners to protect the US economy. (LK/LM)
