JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS) is optimising its natural gas infrastructure to improve the company's operational and financial performance throughout 2024.

Arief S. Handoko, President Director of PGAS, said that natural gas infrastructure plays an important role in ensuring the reliability of energy supply for various sectors, including industry and power generation.

‘The development and utilisation of natural gas infrastructure will continue to be our priority,’ Arief said in an official statement, Thursday (27/3).

One of the main steps taken by PGAS is the optimisation of the Lampung Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), which contributed to an increase in the Terminal Usage Agreement (TUA) contract volume by 33% from 54 BBTUD in 2023 to 72 BBTUD in 2024.

‘This step strengthens gas supply for the national power generation and industrial sectors,’ he said.

In the transmission sector, the volume of gas distributed by PGAS reached 1,543 MMSCFD in 2024. This increase was driven by an increase in supply from the Jambaran Tiung Biru (JTB) field through the Gresik-Semarang pipeline by 48%, as well as the operation of the Senipah-Balikpapan transmission pipeline with a volume of 30 MMSCFD.

‘In addition, gas distribution for domestic customers through the main pipeline network also experienced significant growth,’ he added.

With the optimisation of this infrastructure, PGAS posted revenue of US$3.79 billion in 2024, up 3.84% year-on-year (yoy). PGAS' profit also increased by 22.06% to US$339.43 million in 2024. (DK/KR/LM)
