JAKARTA - PT Timah (Persero) Tbk (TINS) is applying for an Environmental Impact Assessment permit for smelter of tin mining facility in Nigeria. Mochtar Riza Pahlevi Tabrani, President Director of PT Timah (Persero) Tbk (TINS) said that tin mining exploration activities had been running quite intensively in Nigeria. "There is another team in Tanzania with the same prospects, tins, and there are some other minerals that we take alook on; we see there are biggest challenges, as in Africa, the problem is in infrastructure," he said.

According to him, the company had entered tin mining for two countries in Africa to increase tin reserves. However, the infrastructure and transportation road to traverse in the African region is not too effective in accelerating the development of tin facilities. "over there, logistics and carrying equipment is so difficult, and the second, it is the security; there are indeed some countries that already have a stable security," he said. (LK/W)
