JAKARTA - PT BNP Paribas Asset Management (AM) has launched an Environment Social Government (ESG) Mutual Fund, which not only provides long-term results but also supports environmental sustainability. Through this product, it is hoped to serve as a catalyst for the emergence of more ESG products in Indonesia.
Priyo Santoso, President Director of PT BNP Paribas AM, stated that the products offered to investors are not only meant to deliver consistent long-term returns but also need to be sustainable.
"In our opinion, it is not enough for long-term consistent performance to be merely sustainable; it should also be comprehensive," he told idnfinancials.com in Jakarta on Thursday (8/6).
According to him, investment products that prioritise environmental sustainability represent BNP Paribas AM's commitment to investors. This is because these investment products will yield returns and promote environmental sustainability for future generations.
"For us, it is crucial that investments made by Indonesian investors provide added value not only in the present but also in the long term future," said Santoso.
Investors in ESG Equity mutual funds are considered contributors to achieving sustainable investment. BNP Paribas AM will invest in companies that prioritize environmental preservation, consider their impact on the environment, and exhibit good corporate governance.
According to Santoso, BNP Paribas has a long-standing record in the field of environmental sustainability. For instance, in 2002, BNP Paribas globally introduced sustainable and responsible investment (SRI). In Indonesia, BNP Paribas AM began operations in 2016 with the BNP Paribas Cakra Equity Syariah product.
"We aim to maintain this track record in the future, also in the hope that there will be more ESG products available to the Indonesian people," he said. (LK/W)
