JAKARTA - PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) is exploring the addition of mining concessions to boost nickel reserves. In the first quarter of 2024, mine production reached 5.88 million wet metric tons (wmt).
Roy Arman Arfandy, President Director of NCKL, stated that the company will increase nickel reserves on Obi Island, North Maluku. " The way to do this is by increasing the number of IUPs (Mining Business Permits) or nickel mining concessions on or around Obi Island, thus ensuring a longer-term supply," he said.
The company has not yet specified, which nickel mining concessions will be acquired in the near future.
Meanwhile, the company has established two new companies, PT Bhakti Bumi Sentosa (BBS) and PT Cipta Kemakmuran Mitra (CKM). " Regarding the investment, the visibility is in the finalization stage, so the figures are not yet fixed; once they are, we will update in due course," he said. (LK/W)
