JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto will crack down on smuggling of gold and other mining commodities that harm state finances. This was conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto in a speech at the inauguration of PT Freeport Indonesia's precious metal smelter in Gresik, East Java, Monday (17/3).

The President said that the Government wants to manage mining wealth properly. ‘There are still irregularities, where there is illegal mining; there is smuggling of gold abroad without going through the right process. This is detrimental to the state, the people of the nation. We will take action,’ he said. (LK/VA/LM)
